Bruce, of course, was a firm believer in the scientific method in not only his philosophy, but also its application to combat. He once said in an interview: "We should regard our martial art training as scientific and every energy and capacity can be explained by science. It is not mystical at all. Therefore, everything should logical." And: "In any physical movement there is always a most efficient and alive manner to accomplish the purpose of the performance for each individual. That is, in regard to proper leverage, balance in movement, economical and efficient use of motion and energy, etc. Live, efficient movement that liberates is one thing; sterile, classical sets that bind and condition is another."
